Hexagon nuts - for birthdays & Father's Day

August means masculine cards - for my lovely FIL's birthday & my Father's Day - masculine card class. Today I'm sharing some cards featuring punched 'nuts' made with the hexagon & half inch circle punch inspired by this great card by Nance. This was one of my class projects.

The card layout is very simple so I've added texture & interest in other ways.
Nuts - Punch a half inch circle then punch the hexagon over the circle. Use a mix of card & DSP (Moonlight DSP stack used here). Sponge edges to help them pop. Stamp the perfect plum/blackberry bliss nuts with the line & splatter stamps from Gorgeous Grunge, then sponge edges.
Stamped background - Start with naturals white card, sponge sahara sand ink onto Dictionary stamp. Randomly stamp with large splatter stamp & the speckle stamp from Gorgeous Grunge.
Metallic accents - use silver mini brads
Texture - use linen thread
PS - I LOVE the Happy Birthday sentiment - you may have missed this beauty from the super useful & cheap 'Hey You' set. Check it out!

We made this fun extra project at class too - a gift box to match the card. So easy to make with our new hamburger box die.
More Hexagon Nut Cards
Here's another version in shades of grey with paper from the Moonlight DSP stack. This was actually the first one I made - for my FIL's birthday.
And one more just for the fun of making them...

Looking back at these cards reminds me of these more girly hexagon cards.
Anyway, that's all I have for today. Hope these cards have inspired you in some way. I'll be back with the second card we made a the class. Until then, thanks for visiting.
Inky wishes, Di
